Until I got my 'new toy', I could only post scans and the quality of them was not much chop, but I just love the scope. I haven't explored how to use all it's different features, I'm just happy to be getting reasonably good pics. I still have a bit to learn about lighting, especially for coins in 2x2's, but don't want to spend a fortune. Some of the set-ups I've seen are highly technical and would be beyond me in more ways than one.

Very true trout. Let the craziness begin. I was originally looking at getting the one the Purple Penny brought, but it was a cost thing...$300 odd. If I'm going to spend $300, I'd prefer a proper microscope which can be plugged into USB when required. But thanks to this thread I now own a $65-$80 Kaiser Baas unit which does pretty much the same.

What is the largest field area that the microscope can attain? Will it still accommodate a whole coin, if that is what is needed to be pictured?

I have one of these and it is possible to get an image of the whole coin with a fair bit of fiddling about. A normal camera would do a better job I feel. But for close up detail the usb gizmo is the bees knees

Quote: Will it still accommodate a whole coin, if that is what is needed to be pictured? .Absolutely, the scope just needs to be further away from the coin. I've started a new topic to post some images and measurements, so you can get an idea of what it's capable of. https://goccf.com/t/111156

Hey you guys, how come no-one asked where the rest of the CoF States errors are? I only just realized there's none for WA, NT, NSW or Qld. I must have been well and truly sidetracked by the Tennis. Coming to a thread near you soon..........

another incredible effort, nancyc. with larena and dibby33, that it would be great if you could write a book on your numismatic research. Squire
