I do not know much about this series, but really liked the coin. What do you think the grade and value is? I tried different pics to give as much detail as possible, it is black toned in hand.

Better than an "average" VG, with original color and no problems. VG-10 I'd say. The pre-1853 Seated halves are all rather hard to find in no-problem condition and usually fetch solid prices on ebay. I look for bargains but seldom find them. Nice coin!

I'm also going with VG-10.

My 2012 RedBook lists the 1844 SL Half (at VG-10 grade) for around $45.

NICE!

(I'm a HUGE sucker for Seated Liberty Halfs!)

VG-10 no trouble! Usually see ones this worn with numerous problems, like carved initials, rim bumps, sratches from harsh cleaning, etc. This one is trouble free it appears.
