Hello all,

I just joined the forum and wanted to say hello. I have been buying silver for a few years and have just started getting into collecting. I have been primarily buying Graded Pandas, Graded ATBs, and a few others. That brings me to my question:

Just bought a coin off of ebay that was advertised as "Iran 5oz silver coin" on the obverse is a picture of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi shah of Iran with the date of 1367(translates to 1988). The writing says (Translated) "in the memory of his majesty Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, king of kings". On the reverse it says "5 troy oz of .999 silver" It is limited mint with number "0057" and has a "CC" roll mark on it.

weight is correct and it came in a case. Owner didn't know anything about the coin and said a friend gave it to him in late 80's. I can't find anything on it and I am stumped!

I can tell you that it wasn't minted in Iran as 1988 was after the Islamic Revolution.

I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

Wow, 53 looks and no comment!

Anyone knows whose roll mark can "CC" be? Also, where can I go to find out more about this coin?

Just wait a bit, there are some specialists here, but you didn't posted long ago :)
I looked at it, but I don't collect those (moreover this is not a circulating coin ... I only collect circulating ones)

Reza Pahlavi was exiled by the Ayatollah in 1979. He died of lymphoma in 1980. I wonder who would have minted bullion in his honor 8 years later?

I could be a product of the "Continental Coin Co".
They made some coins for obscure countries ( Hut river province).

You may be right Trout. I emailed irangoldcoin.com and asked him about the coin. He thought "Continental Coin Mint of Vegas" has minted this coin. They are since gone out of business, but I can't find anything on them. I would really like to verify if they minted it. The "CC" Roll mark is the key! I have also found Bars on ebay with "CC" roll mark minted by "Continental Coin" but don't know if it is in Vegas or California.

There is a "Continental Coin Co" in CA but I think this it is not the same.
Rest in Peace

As others have noted, this is likely a bullion round, not a coin. Coins usually have a country and denomination.
