I have had a slow delivery before (during the holidays), but how long should I wait before I approach eBay/PayPal on a USPS Priority Mail item? The seller stated that it went out o/a 03 Jan 2012, it was insured, but no delivery confirmation. The seller stated that they would check with the post to see if it can be tracked, no solid info yet, other than it was delivered (to whom?).

How long should I wait to claim a refund with ebay?

It was a $300 coin, at least they insured it.

The seller should make their claim with USPS since it was insured...am I correct?

Jan. 3 mailed? Then Jan. 10 postal query. In my experience, priority never takes more than 5 days and I've posted a lot - manuscripts, art, coins, and more. Thank god for the insurance. It's their claim. They have the documentation.

I had a coin take 26 days before it got delivered... of course by that time I had already issued a refund and lost out :(
I sent it with a tracking number and it just sat in new york for about 3 weeks till it finally popped out

The seller sent me a photocopy of the insurance receipt and left a note to have take it to the post office for inquiry.

Is it up to me to claim this item? I thought it was the other way around; the seller would make a claim against USPS, and the buyer would file with ebay for reimbursement.

I believe to make a claim at USPS, the sender would have had to bought insurance.

I was under the impression its his job. You get your refund from him, and he gets his refund from USPS. That way everyone breaks even... Otherwise he still has your $300 and you just break even... Did that make sence? lol

Sounds like the seller is trying to get you to do his job so he can keep that $300

File a claim with PayPal. Don't bother with the post office. The seller has to provide signature confirmation on an item of that value or PayPal holds their funds and refunds yours.

It is not your job to track it down.
