Is this supposed to be a VAM?

Well since every single Morgan and Peace dollar is actually a VAM I suppose so, but no VAM is listed nor attributed by ANACS.

Just a little grading exercise for everyone to participate in - hence the posting in the grading forum.

Not a major variety from anything I can see. MS64 would be my guess; ANACS clamped down starting with those yellow slabs.

I stated 64 and will stand by that with the possibility of a 65 depending on what type of ANACS holder this is in. If it is a holder from before the new yellow slabs (but not so old as to be in a small holder) it could be slabbed 65. Westcoin, when was it slabbed?

What causes the white spot on the reverse at 12:00? And the washed out odd toning on the obverse zygomatic (I think that's what it's called)?

Mint wash of planchets before striking. You can see similar artifacting around the last two right stars and M. It's part of the coin, now, and isn't going away.
