I'd bet the scuffs and field hairlines are exaggerated in the photos and the coin looks "cleaner" in hand. Solid MS-63 IMO, with very nice frost on the portrait. The reverse toning spot is a bit of a distraction.

First one of your new postings I clicked on, westcoin, and it's a pretty good start. Look at the bottom of the eagle's right wing. Then note the additional gouge on the opposite wing, a little higher up.

VAM-11, a Top 100 coin. Not much premium - they're relatively common - but a striking variety.

I'm thinking 63. You'd better get a loupe on that green on the obverse, and be prepared to crack it out if necessary.

I'll point a bit lower, MS-62. ANACS can be quite rough on these.

Not to worry SuperDave, most of my dollars have been vammed, you may see a few of them popping up here in the grading forum, and probably more than 70% of my ANACS slabs are labled, I have 3 or 4 boxes or just 1878-P coins!

Before finding CCF I was pretty active over at Vamworld, but lately I've been concentrating on my 2¢ study.

Well you and Bryan1315, one of our fellow staff members will be getting along splendidly. I don't think Bryan has parted with much if any of his B1 reverse collection which I believe is pretty extensive!

Keep em coming!
Rest in Peace

I would say MS63 but ANACS is definitely tuff of late. Nice looking variety I'm envious. nlp

My apologies, then; hadn't realized your degree of commitment to VAMming. I'll proselytize elsewhere.

Still concerned about that obverse color.
