Went into my local bank to deposit some money and asked what he had in the vault. He brought out a 1971-D Eisenhower in pretty good shape (I was pretty happy about this one) and a 97 Kennedy (not too special but I didn't decline). He told me to come back often; said they see odd old coins come through all the time.

I couldn't be happier. It's the small things in life, right?

Where I bank at I have asked if they had any Ike dollars and the teller said that they get first dibs on them when they come in (some old guy deposited a few recently). Oh well, I guess I can't blame them.
The same bank (but different branch) said they did still have over thirty rolls of Kennedy halves (I bought many half rolls here before) and that I'm welcome to them so I'll look into those when I get paid again.

I live in upstate NY and the local bank I use gets Ike's all the time. Picked up 100 of them about a month ago. Nothing special in the bunch but was worth a shot. The head teller saves all kinds of coins for me. I even get her to save old bills for me as well. This same branch also let's me get bags of coins as well which is great. I also buy pizza for the tellers and that little gesture goes along way. So I agree 100% small town banks can be awesome.

Every once in a while you get a really good bank. At one bank today, a teller let me dig through her tray!

I know of a young lady who used to live in Piscataway NJ, she is now resident in Vegas.... bit of a change!

Where she used to live was much more like the experience of ContraJame's, not NYC.

My town size is ~10k. The two closest "big cities" are 50k and 150k in population and an hour away.

Slightly rural. :)
