This was sold as 'a tray lot of foreign coins and paper money'. Total count = 55 coins, 2 paper notes. This included $2.15 in spendable Canadian plus two silver Canadian quarters and a silver German the size of a well worn Mercury dime. Knockdown price = $55 with tax, a dollar a coin. Two questions: 1)- How did I do? and 2)- Why is this in the Classic Coins forum? Keep reading. This is pretty much how they were presented at the sale. But the auctioneer did not mention there were three very well worn USA coins in the lot. It seems no one else noticed either. Back to question one . . .

if that IHC is what it looks like, that could be worth about 10x what you paid for the lot

Seems like this would be a great way for me to unload my stockpile of foreign coins.

Oh, I know my kitchen table photography can be fairly terrible, especially with copper coins. Here, try these:

Question three, what's it really 'worth' in that condition? Numismedia does not have a listing for 'worn almost slick'.

I see an online retailer that has an 1877 IHC in AG/G condition only a little better than yours at $875

Quote: 400- 500? (experts weigh in please) I am no expert, but that is what I was thinking in terms of value as well.

Thanks for the input, guys. Hope the luck rubs off. I expect this will turn out to be one of those 'once-in-a-lifetime' experiences.
