So I bought the following coins and was wondering if you though I got a good deal, all the prices include shipping! Gotta love ebay:
NGC Certified PF69 Ultra Cameo 2001 S Lincoln cent-Paid $5.57
2010 S proof nickel-$1.25
Roll of 40 "unsearched" Buffalo Nickles-$40

I Kinda want to sell these guys so I can get some more silver coins, thought they were a good deal so I grabbed them. According to the NGC price guide the Lincoln is worth $18.75...Well good deal or not?

One thing you have to factor into pricing for low value slabbed coins. The price guides tend to take into account the cost of having the coin slabbed. The typical modern proof inside government packaging is PR-69 DCAM. Nobody is going to pay $18.75 to buy a PR69 2001 S cent- but if you want to make one- you will pay at least that- and probably a little more.

I bought a PCGS PR69DCAM 2001 S cent for about the same price. PCGS says it is worth $15. But they sell every day on auction sites for $5 or $6.

The nickel you got for the price of a raw nickel proof.

and the unsearched roll? well, depends on the condition of the coins. Are they dateless? are they F or better?

My guess is you paid what the market will bear for these items- if there are nicer nickels you might come out ahead... but if they were nicer- why would someone sell them as "unsearched" in a roll?

First 2 items - ok.

Last item - there is NO SUCH THING as a roll of unsearched Buffalo nickels. IMHO, I believe most of the wear on Buffalo nickels is from coin collectors and people looking to make a quick buck....from 1940 on.

I think you did fine. Especially on the nickels, as long as they have dates
hopefully you have a little variety of dates and not too many dateless nickels. Each one of those you pull could make it less and less of a fair deal.

I put the Unsearched in quotes for a reason....Hahaha, I have no problem paying market value for coins as at least I didn't over pay and It's a fun hobby and it's an investment. I just got four 2011 5oz America the Beatiful coins from the mint,The mint is selling them for $205 each go on ebay and see how many of the 2010 ones sold for $350+each...Pretty good investment if you ask me.

Anyway, I bought two "Unsearched" wheat/IH rolls and Nothing good so I sold the coins and broke about even on them.

I'm just excited for the Buffalo roll to come in the mail. I'll probably sell all the coins and use the money to buy more rolls and hopefully strike gold...

Thanks for the help guys
