Sorry for the terrible picture, but this is the only picture I had to purchase the coin from. I bought it from a new ebay seller and the listing was not even correct. I took a chance and I won the coin. The reserve was not met but I was the highest bidder and the seller sent me a second chance offer. The discription in the auction was "and the back looks good to, all letters in Liberty visable" Edited by TLS5933 01/25/2007 5:40 pm

I'm gonna stab at it and say EF-ish or better, surfaces undetermined. It's the kind of auction I'd take a run at, much like I play the lottery.

I thought EF or possibly a touch better. I paid VG-8 for it so anything above that is all good. Its the kind of auction I like to try at also. You just don't find a lot of them.

Good for the price, but, IMO, waaaaaay to clean for the wear to be original surfaces.

Yep, I thought too clean also, but the price was right. In there original picture you couldn't tell how clean it was.It still worked out ok though.

Unfortunately, that coin has been harshly cleaned and would be markedly reduced in value in the marketplace. Perhaps you got a great deal on it, but if you ever try to unload it you might be surprised at the lowball offers you might receive. It has VF details but might sell at VG money.

Prethen, I agree. Its the chance you take when you buy from poor pics.I like to take the chance once in a while sometimes it works out and sometimes it does not. I will just relist it as "cleaned" at let nature take its course.

I don't know if I would call it "harshly cleaned" but cleaned none the less but I do not see any deep lines that makes me consider a coin harshly cleaned though

I don't think its been brushed cleaned. There are no fine mark on the coin but I do believe its been dipped. Some will like it and some won't as long as I tell them its been cleaned then its up to the buyer.I would rather not sell and cleand ones at all if I can help it.

a dipped coin is perfectly acceptable to me, I like my coins white anyhow but I agree if selling it has to be mentioned but I would call it dipped and not cleaned because some people are like me and don't care about dipped but shy away from cleaned and it could scare some off when they see that word especially when having to go by a photo when looking at the coin because sometimes you just cant see the cleaning lines in the picture and if they say it cleaned I automatically think it has been harshly cleaned

Good point Bryan. I always considered cleaned and dipped to be the same and wizzed as harshly cleaned.

nah cleaned means it has cleaning lines and dipped just means its allot cleaner than it should be unless it was harshly dipped then we have a whole different problem but to me as I said dipping is perfectly acceptable to me as long as it was done correctly
