At risk of attracting more bidders from the forum, I'd like to ask about this 1921 dime I've been looking at. I like the clash and the condition, but it looks weirdly bright to me. Does it look dipped to you? Is it just that the very worn state of the die is giving it some unusual luster? It's ANACS certified, but I've been dissatisfied with ANACS slabbed coins in the past.

Yes it does appear excessively bright in the fields. It should have a darker look with the amount of crud in the hard to remove areas.

Tough call. Lighting setup for photographing slabs is difficult, and easy to create a washed-out look. Furthermore, I'm as comfortable with ANACS' authentication as anyone's, and would be unlikely to think they'd let a cleaned coin into a righteous slab. Of course, anyone can make a mistake - we're human.

I think it looks OK, with color not too unusual for a circulated Mercury dime. Of course, it could have been lightly cleaned and still slabbed problem-free if ANACS didn't see it as a significant defect.

Appears somewhat bright buts coins vary.
Very attractive coin IMO, I would love to replace my G4 with
the looks of that!

If I had to guess, I would guess the lighting versus the coin.

I think the ANACS certification is the clincher. Final call: Good coin.

SuperDave is right about the lighting, and sometime that will hide defects.

Still a very nice coin!

I ended up holding off. I'll wait for one that gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling.
