joshtammi Valued Member Australia 258 Posts	Posted 01/24/2012 08:49 am I cannot decide between Fine and Very Fine, I am getting conflicting messages from two documents, one says VF should have centre diamond and ALL 4 sets of pearls, other says same except 2nd pair worn away! I think to be VF it has to show weak 7&8th pearls and a full centre diamond. aVF if it has full diamond but only 6 pearls. gF if the centre diamond is a little worn. I have this penny, a 1950, but the face is quite lustrous and my 23 almost looks like dull wood next to this one. has it been cleaned? Report this Post to the Staff
enworb Pillar of the Community Australia 4411 Posts	Posted 01/24/2012 09:40 am It has wayyyy to much wear on it to still have heaps lustre. It has been cleaned or been in contact with something. I took me quite a while to learn the difference between real lustre and dodgy jobs and found the best way to pick up the difference was by looking at coins with genuine lustre very carefully to see how it should actually look. Go to a coin shop and have a look at a few high grade examples and you should be able to pick it up. Report this Post to the Staff
