I just received this coin in the mail. It's really neat but I have no idea what type of error this is...

top one is something glued or soldered on it actually looks to be dripping down the coin face off the piece off metal.

Wert I think yours is something else, a crack that turned into a chip.

Are those die cracks around the 1 in 1 cent?

We are ALL still learning and I really mean that. I've been schooled in modern coins here so many times I have felt absolutely spanked, but it's great and I've extended my collection forward a little as a result.

chris86-

Nice coin except for that. I'd try an overnight soak in acetone, then a thorn or toothpick to see if it comes off.

Thanks for everyone's input. It looks to me like this actually part of the coin, not soldered or attached after it was minted...

If it is actually part of the coin it would be a die chip. (it does looks artificially attached to me)

Edit: as always these are just opinions that are worth exactly what you paid for them, so no worries.

No problem, I like the coin nevertheless, and at $1 it didn't put a big dent in my wallet either way. :)
