First, I apologize in advance for the poor quality picture. I only have a camera phone.

I was going through my pennies today, and this one stuck out. The color (although it doesn't show it in the picture) is a lot different than any other penny I've come across. Also Lincoln is raised a lot higher, but isn't as detailed. I'm guessing it is just another copper penny to add to the pile, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks for any help.

I am not completely sure about this, but I think the dies were different until 1969. I always wondered why Lincoln Pennies were not smooth.
Rest in Peace

Looks pretty nice for being in circulation for so long. I think your photo is pretty good for a camera phone. I am wondering about the top of the coin -- it could be the angle of the photo but it looks like the 'trust' is on the rim a little bit.

Anyway, I'd keep it. (But I keep too many...)

It seems like all of it is on the rim, here is another shot (and also a picture of the back).

1968's are known to be mushy, they sharpened up the details in '69. Your coin looks typical for the year.As for the color it's just a nice toned red with a few spots on it.

Your cent illustrates the reason for the updated design in 1969.

NICE FIND!

1968 was the last year for the old obverse master hub that had been around since 1916.
