Poll Question
I wanted to know what you all thought of this.I thought that one day the mint should start minting 2 cent coins.I wanted to know this because then the mint could stop minting Pennies and mint these instead. Then you would have to round everything to the nearest 2 cent coin.I think it is a good idea. Please let me know what you think thanks f16

We should be talking about eliminating the nickel and dime along with the cent, not coming up with a new worthless coin.

I'd go along with a new 2 Cent coin. As well as also a new 3 Cent Coin. And while at it why not start something really new and make a 4 Cent coin? The biggest problem would be just who or what to put on them. Living Presidents? Movie stars? State Birds. Famous Gangsters so you could have Bonnie on one side and Clyde on the other. I'm also for a $0.99 cent coin. Everywhere I go all I see is items selling for $1.99 or $3.99 or $7.99. Now with a $0.99 coin, you could hand them all baby dollars and a $0.99 coin.

Implement a $2 and $5 coin and stop printing paper money below $10. A new 2 cent, just as worthless as our cents and nickles.

Everything below the dime eliminated would help costs in government. we don't need nickles or cents, we certainly don't need 2 cent pieces again.

The poll is only about the penny and a new 2cent coin. So, if we take a baby step and get rid of the penny then later on we can get rid of the 2cent coin. Then we can tackle the nickel. We should eventually only have dimes and higher. The dollar should be paper only, not a coin. WHEW....... glad I got that off of my chest.

Maybe we should return to fractional currency. Could imagine the little tiny wallets you would need to carry them around in?

There is no option for the correct choice here.
That is, get rid of the penny, and have the Nickel as the lowest denomination coin.
From my visits to the 'States, and the use of coinage, I think a 2 cent coin would be shunned like the Anthony Dollar.
It is my observation that the general public use the penny as a 'single use' coin only. It is just thrown in a bikkie barrel, to be recycled back to the bank when you have accumulated enough of them. Probably due to the state tax laws, which differ from State to State, and the need to give exact change at the checkout.
That would be a a very sad outcome for the penny collecors, who have contributed greatly to the CCF with their posts. I have enjoyed reading them, and their contribution to numismatics.
