Perhaps no greater tribute can be made to the man or woman who designed a coin which portrayed an individual with such faithfulness to the character of the individual being portrayed, than there was no need to include the name of the individual. So, here is a little puzzle. Without any clue other than the fact that this is a 20th century coin, can you identify the man? A special request of those who know the coin: Rather than reveal the answer, please answer the following question: Do you agree that the design is true to the man? Matthew

Of course I can identify the man, and I'm American. It's a great likeness.

I'll just quote him then...."You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."

Due to maybe a bad memory, I'll simply say I have no idea.

I knew who it was the moment I saw it, although I don't know if I've seen a picture of him in profile before.
For all his flaws, he was definitely "the right man for the job at the right time."

I had to cheat and go to Google but, my first guess was right. It is a good portrayal.

I was trying to figure out whats worse not knowing the man or not knowing the coin. I know the man though but I'd still fail with a 50%. Did you know his mom invented the Manhattan cocktail.

Looks like the man exactly, though it is dubbed the ugliest coin design ever. It was one of the first coins my dad gave me.

My sister replied, "Don Rickles." Thanks for the well thought out replies. And thanks for not just blurting out the answer! Matthew

That is one of my first world coins that I've had since about 1970. I forgot all about it.

Too bad we cannot bring him back & get him to run for president (then again he was not born here ..........). But we definitely need people of his character nowadays. Anyone ever hear "Newkirk" do an impression of him?
