I've been beating my head against this coin for days now, and haven't come up with an attribution I like. It's a broken-star, broken-r version. Here's the original thread, with more pics:

I've been concentrating on the wing engraving, and it doesn't resemble anything in any of my references, although it's definitely engraved:

I'm particularly struck by the prominent polishing lines in the engraved area; I'd have thought that enough to at least bear mentioning in the VAM description, but apparently not.

Help?

I am soooo glad you asked because I have just been sitting here waiting on you to say something about needing some help with that 1878-S you have been working on, now I can get my 1878-S book out and see what we come up with. Just without looking it looks like a VAM-64 to me so far but I will look in the book and see

Trying to win one? I hope you're being facetious. Unless you bid on the 36hp convertible beetle that went through last night. What a hoot.

If you're serious, what are you looking for? Most everything is way out for me, but I did notice the inlfux this year of restored cars that aren't back to original. A lot of restored vehicles with disc brakes and sound systems and air.

I guess this should be in "general discussion". Sorry for clogging this up.
