Hi everyone. I'm still new to forum talk so I hope this all works. Now then, I'm on the verge of finishing my Canadian silver maple leave set from 1988-2012 all mint sealed. I know that online they say that years 88-08 all came mint sealed and then they came in the tubes. According to the mint, These later dates could be mint sealed upon request by the customer. Can anyone confirm that they are all out there? I do have a 2010 and 2012 mint sealed so I'm assuming that there are but it seems that I cant find 2007 - 2009 mint sealed and I was also wondering if during that time period if they actually didnt mint seal them at all and I'm chasing a false dream of a complete and full set. Thank-you. How much do you guys and gals think a complete set of silver maples all mint sealed would be worth?

Uh, welcome to the site!

I have no idea how to answer your question, but here is a book I found on ebay that seems to be 1988-2007, and perhaps that may give you some price reference if the coins you have are similar is proof style etc. An according to my weak math, you would have 5 more coins total!

How about this Maple Lunar set just on a side note, that is one amazing set! And I love owning things like that, minus that ridiculous premium one must fork out. Just is what it is, you want the best an high quality in any collecting category on this planet, you will have to pay for it! I don't care what you collect, if you shoot for the best it is gonna cost you....

I saw the same Lunar set myself recently.

As far as collectibles, did anyone notice the new $20 (Canadian) Silver Polar Bear on sale at the Mint Website?

this is the zodiac set, issued in 2004 and mintage 5,000. the lunar set looks similar but takes 12 years to complete. I have both sets and I really like them

Ya, I've been watching some of these sets pop into the equation online throughout the year and they seem to go for about $45 an ounce when spot was around the $29 mark and varries throughout spot changes. Always wondered if an actual complete set would go for a higher value. Most of these "sets" that have gone through ahve never been complete and never been all mint sealed. They were always missing 4 or more coins and none ever had mint sealed past 2006.

There is another thing too. What is with all these coin collectors knocking on bullion coins as collections? They constantly referr to them as "just bullion" I think that bullion coins as sets are fantastic and feel accomplished. I realize that rarity isn't on of their main features but I think that they are fantastic peices to look at and won above their melting properties.

I also feel that us bullion collectors are treated as second class citizens among numismatists. But I do see where they are coming from. There are a lot more history to circulation coins than there are to bullion, however rare, collectible, and beautiful the latter can be. In addition to the rarity of true numismatic coins, it is also much harder to find them in pristine condition since they were meant to be handled to begin with. Commemorative bullion on the other hand, often goes straight into a capsule/tube from the mint and stays there (making grading of bullion coins is a joke really). One day i'll have enough time to invest in learning more about true numismatic coins, but for now, I smile, bow my head, keep an ear open for good stories, and then get right back to my pure silver and gold coins.

@SilverHawk: Here I thought I overprice my coins, that book of Maples you liked is just plain ridiculous. For that money, I can get all 1988-2012 BU maples and the likely complete the set of 12 Chinese zodiac privy marked coins, a good 17 more coins than listed.
The 2004 zodiac privy set you've linked is also out to lunch. I just sold a complete set (mint sealed), with all COAs, for $800. Too bad the few sets I have left don't all come with COA, but i'd bet they'd still look very attractive beside that listing for $1300!

@rgathright: Get the polar bears before they sell out (pretty much inevitable I think). Dealers are already selling them at inflated prices of $25-$28

HEY EVERYONE! So guess what....I found like my first thread here...Haha..... To answer the OP (ME) I did eventually find every year mint sealed except for 2009. MINT SEALED 2009 does not exist! I did finish that collection 26oz in total and then sold it. I think I had 21oz when I joined CCF. I miss that set but since then my stack has reshaped and grown. Many thanks to all the people on CCF that I have had the pleasure of doing business with, learned from, taught, discussions and good laughs with. Today I'm on the verge of 100oz that most of you know and I will start a thread with pics when I get to that milestone. Speaking of milestone, I searched out this thread in honor of my 1000 post ! Hoot Hooot Hooot! Yeh baby. CHEERS ALL!

I think I have a 2009 sealed, I'll check. I was doing the same thing with sealed maples. Trying to get all the privy maples to.
