That is an awesome case. Just really beautiful.

I second the idea of putting the gap at the bottom, and keeping some antique coin collecting knick knacks in there. A big old fashioned brass magnifying glass, loupe on a gold chain, just stuff to impress the ladies. :)

Thanks but again the gap is just there because I ran out of mounting hardware for the rest of the drawers. It will be full of drawers as soon as the store gets another shipment in.

I like the idea of having some antique glass to view my coins with. Maybe I should dedicate the top tray to holding an array of antique magnifying devices. Thank you for that idea.

I can for sure offer up the plans I used for free to anyone that wants them tho.

I fancy myself a craftsman, but nowhere near your abilities! That being said, I would like to try building this myself. Would you be so kind as to share the plans with me?

Let me draw some up that look better than chicken scratchins and I will post them up. Keep in mind I just built the drawers, the cabinet was an old TV/media press. You would have to adjust the measurments to whatever you figure putting them in.

I LOVE the idea of an antique magnifying glass and lamp -- or at least antique looking! That will be the crowning touch for sure.

I mentioned the lock before just because I'm a worry-wort. My home is secure, but I have people over... anyway, I have misplaced things (moved a coin from the 'keep forever' box to the 'maybe I should sell this' box -- forgot I did that) and then wondered about who took it -- right up until I found what I had misplaced. I lock everything up now. And I make notes....(sigh) I still misplace stuff.

I just did a search for antique glass and man their is some cool stuff to be had. I am definately going to be getting some glass and an antique lamp to go on the top like an old piano lamp I think. My wife is gonna beat me with a stick when she sees how much this hobby is costing me.

DM1975 - thank you for sharing and provoking MANY ideas.

This past summer, while attending garage sales with my wife, I picked up a cabinet specifically to house coin supplies. I might just repurpose the bottom of this to include trays as well. THANK YOU again for sharing.

For anyone that is interested in learning to build furniture their used to be a show on DIY called Wood Works with David Marks. I am sure you can find the old episodes on the web. They are worth watching and you can learn some decent tecniques from the series. Even if you already know how to work with wood it is still a very interest show.
