Online and Live.

Torex is the biggest coin show and auction in all of Canada.

However, it is nowhere near as large as the FUN show (In the States). I wish it was though!

We whine and complain about ebay and its sellers on this forum, yet we look forward to an auction conducted by those who allegedly switched coins in ICCS holders and were expelled from the CAND.Most of the coins, when you add the buyers fee, taxes, and shipping have start prices that are well above 70% of trends. The auctioneers estimates for virtually every lot make the ebay dreamers seem competent somehow.Sure, some bargains will be had,but just like ebay "caveat emptor"

I have not heard of this. Is there a article or something? I would be interested in reading up on that.

That's a Canadian complement, by the way... lol... all around.

I never checked it out before really. I want to at least see some nice examples of good things. How good is it at that?

Anyone find that the starting prices for the February Torex seems a bit high?

Even at the starting prices, if I add up everything I like, I'd need $30,000. Ain't gonna happen.

I find their auctions way too high even to place a first bid!

Most of their auctions sell with only one bid - their own!

Nothing usually sells. Prices are way too high.

Another point I'd like to add...

Why do they charge a buyers' and sellers' premium?

Think about it.

They own mostly all the coins in their auction.

The true purpose of Buyers and sellers premiums (or fees) are to generate income for the auction house when they are disposing of someone else's property.

But when the auction house owns the coins these fees are similar to 'double dipping'.

What a system!

That's why I say there's really no 'true' auctions out there anymore.

Time to start our own auctions to compete with theirs? Maybe then they'll lower their fees to compete.
