Really, I just post a thread taking a few shots at APMEX, for their ridiculously listed "special" on the five eagle set, at just over 15 hundred, or 300 plus per coin.... Now then they come right back at me today with a low down attempt to bring me on board, via their big purchase from the New Zealand mint who makes these, as I have seen a member here post a link to them.... As if they know I love Star wars and want me to sell my soul to the APMEX devil .... Reminds me of Golum...."My precious, must have it!" Real low ball thing for those dirty dawgs to do to me here I figure.... Let me get out my calculator an figure out how much it will be if I get all eight coins, and figure in their most reasonable (25 DOLLAR SHIPPIN AVERAGE), hold on now bare with me will have this in just a minute..... Oh man there goes my chest pains again where are my nitrate pills! This is it Elizabeth, I am comin home as their trying to get 120 bucks per star wars coin, even though they do have nice Lucas artwork and a lovely proof finish and the Milenium falcon display case! http://www.apmex.com/Product/67147/...0412Abutton2Edited by Silverhawk74 02/04/2012 1:06 pm

Check the New Zealand mint website - I did this a few weeks ago when I first saw these offered by the Royal Canadian Mint. The RCM wanted somehwere around 500.00. Here it is from the NZ website - note the price is $US Here is their cost to my doorstep in PA using their calculator (no, this is still too much for me for 4 oz!).

Hey thanks for the links guys, at least a better price, even though I don't see me pullin the trigger on one of these sets for a while, may go an see what I can find on ebay for them. Last time I checked, about 500 a set out of Europe was the only place to get them on ebay..... And how funny is it guys that they are RE-RE-REleasing the Phantom Menace (aka episode #1 if you go in chronological order)in 3D no doubt, with five more to come. Ya think the real smart crew in charge over their put their heads together an decided to make a big purchase from the New Zealand mint, perhaps for a way cheaper price per set then what they offer it to the public at here before the first movie hits the theaters? That is what I would have done, those dirty dawgs.....

"outrageous for 3 silver ounces" I also think Earl you meant to say four oz., not that that justifies it or makes it calculate much better, lol.... The dark side set comes with Darth Vader, Storm trooper, Emperor, and that fantastic space view of the death star and some Tie fighters, which appears non colored an proof like.... The good guys sets have Hans an Chewy, old Ben an Yoda, Luke an Leia, and the droids on the last one.... They are thick on ebay now, graded an slabbed ms-70 sets up around a grand, lol.... Here is the only running auction I noticed, and the rest are all higher then the two fore mentioned on buy it nows. Looks like the shepal are pushing them up as well, as this set is up to 435 free ship, with an hour to go. I will NOT be bidding, wear it out all, lol.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-Niue-4...em1e6ace65a6

There really ought to be a category for overpriced "junk" PMs. Silver would need to triple in price before you'd turn a profit on these... Now if the NZ mint made a set of LOTR coins, which were filmed there, I might consider purchasing them as a novelty item... Reminds me of the Australian "Lunacy" New Year series II, and the current 1oz. Year of the Dragon coins. There is something like 12 different colorized ones on the market, not including the BU bullion and proof versions, all costing over $100 per coin. $100/oz of silver puts it in the overpriced category, even though the design is exceptionally well executed. I saved myself a grand on the 14 coins and bought the 10oz. version for under $400 instead. There are deals from APMEX, you have to hunt for them, as they usually lack sufficient quantities for mass email offers.

I will not be buying this set because APMEX is not offering a bulk buy discount. Did anyone notice the SpongeBob Square Pants coin set at the New Zealand mint? Going for $259!

I'm a huge Star Wars geek, and coin collector, but I can't pull the trigger, either. I could get two 5 ounce ATBs for that much!

I hear you CPC24, as if I had that much to spend right now, would much prefer a couple of those 5 oz. ATB coins....

God one Earl, that would be some what of a trading predicament. Of course if the barter guy was a star wars fan, you may sway him to swap you out for about five hundred bucks worth of food, water, an supplies, but I doubt it, lol....

If world economy is collapsing having what type of silver coins will be the last thing you should worry about.

If you had the Star wars coins at the market, I'm sure you would be happy to see the guy with the Spongebob coins walk through the door to take the attention of yourself!
