This was my other Long Beach purchase. I like the concept that the Panama coinage is a match for the specifications of USA coins, which I learned on a stopover at the Panama City airport. All the vending machines take Panama and USA coins interchangeably. Back when the coins contained silver their One, Half, and Quarter Balboas had exactly the same specifications and fineness as the USA silver dollar, half, and quarter.

The 1934 Un Balboa has a mintage less than the key date 1928 USA Peace dollar yet sells at practically the bullion value in circulated grades. What kind of grade would you assign to this one?

My grading skills are terrible, so I won't offend... I love these coins.. The reverse is so intricate. I believe these were minted in Philadelphia. The US has minted Panamanian coins on US planchets for years. There appears to be a small chip or Cud on Balboa's helmet, pointing up towards the "O".

I just picked up a 1947. You've got a nice coin there!

I've always liked the design of these coins. There are signs of an old cleaning and some scratches on the obverse. But it is a very nice coin that I would grade at VF-25.
