Do they have rehab for roll searchers? I started out two months ago asking for half dollars from tellers, now I am searching two boxes of halves each week, $200-$300 a day in CWR's of dimes, a box of nickels a day and just today picked up $500 in CWR's of quarters. So all total I picked up $500 in quarters, $500 in halves, $270 in dimes and $100 in nickels just today. I need help!!

Wow! That is an incredible amount of coins to search through. How do you find that much time to search through the coins?
How many hours does it take you to search all of that?
You must be really addicted and finding some great coins.

Well sadly I recently went through a divorce and have found myself with more spare time than I need. Most of my friends are married with children so I am the single third wheel so I do not socialize much. I do not have cable so I do not watch TV, this leaves me with evenings free with nothing to kill the time. I can search a box of nickels in about an hour to an hour and a half. Dimes are easy, I pour them into my hand look for silver rims and then put them right back into the roll. I will do the same with the quarters. A box of halves takes about 30-45 minutes to search so really not a lot of time needed.

On the halves not really, out of six boxes of halves searched 5 were skunks and 1 had 5 40%'s, I have better luck with loose halves when I can find them. Dimes yes, a lot, I find on average 1 silver dime per $250 CWR's searched, Friday I found 4 in $300 CWR's searched. Nickels I do well, I save all pre 1960 nickels but average one War Nickel per box. Today is the first day for quarters so I will let you know but am not expecting much from quarters. I enjoy this hobby and it really fills the time, makes me feel like I am accomplishing something in my off time.

Are you having any trouble dumping that much coin back?

Not really, the dimes I put back into the paper rolls and deposit them at the teller window. The nickels and halves I dump at a bank that has a coin counter, they have three branches within 10 minutes of me so I save those up for a few days and then dump them.

I feel like I'm doing something wrong because when I was single I spent all my time chasing women. And now that I've been in a relationship for the last five years I search coins like crazy. lol No wonder she's always mad at me.
Anyhow, you seem to have the same averages I've got in my area. I've never had much luck with quarters because there are so many new ones. Dimes have always been my go-to for silver 'cause I'm gauranteed at least one or two per box. That is pretty good time for searching a box of nickels, too. I think I'm around that for searching, but if I immediately roll them back up it takes longer to search the box. Sometimes I dump 'em and roll them all after searching and that takes HOURS!

I've gotten in the habit of sorting from worst to best in terms of grade for each Year/MM and then comparing the highest grade of the lot to my current "best find" from hunting. Granted I'm only on my first box so who knows what'll happen a few boxes down the road. If I went through coins at that rate I think my bank would disown me. xD

I have three bank accounts with three different banks, I use several different branches from the different banks and only deposit coins at one branch and never buy coins from them. I have told the tellers that I own a bunch of vending machines and that is why I need the rolls for change purposes, they have all been nice and the tellers save all the CWR's of dimes for me.

Same thing that came to me as soon as I started reading this post. Way, way back before marrage, I spent about half my time at work and most of the rest of my time chasing girls. Of course there was also, college, cars and shooting guns at ranges. Then too there were gun shows, car shows, knife shows, camera shows and on and on and on. I'm glad about coins since that slowed me down almost as much as being married.

When I was younger yes I was the same way, now that I am older I am different. I am all about myself now, I do what makes me happy and my coin hobby makes me happy. I also enjoy my time hunting and I do go to the gun range almost every weekend. I look at woman like softball now, if you hit me a line drive I will catch it but I am no longer going to chase after pop flys.
