A very interesting email came through today.

The largest Chinese replica/fake factory that has been featured in various articles. Some of the articles featured pics of the workings at the shop. This was the guy that, a few years ago I bought some fakes off of to educate myself about them. At different times I also emailed him as I wanted to keep up with what was developing in the fakes manufacturing world. The last I did this was sometime, I think, last summer or before.

Recently I tried to contact him and the email could not get an answer. Today's email included a Linkedin invitation from a person who has the same name as the fake maker. This person is now working for the CA government as a civil engineer. I am not 100% sure it is the same person. But I know I did no email back and forth to China with anyone else over there and what are the chances then of this request being the same as the only person in China I emailed?

why the question? Ever hear how lock companies hire crooks to help improve their locks? Security companies too hire criminals for help in security problems. When you really think about it, there are many criminals that are much better at such jobs as those that just studied it. Even not to long ago on TV they hired a Criminal to help our in displaying all sorts of methods ot home breakins.

Was this the same person that Coin World published articles on (showing his factory equipment, coin presses, etc.), saying that it was legal for him to produce counterfeit coins in China?
I know I was tempted to contact him and send him some genuine blank planchets and have him stamp out some key dates for me... Then reality set in and the last thing I want is to get arrested for possesion of counterfeit coins (amazing how temptation goes away so fast)...

Yes - I believe the Coin World articles were about his factory. So I guess he was in business over there so he could make enough to come here - who knows?

How about some more details? Like a name and an email address?

Otherwise how do we know what you are talking about?
