This gives me inspiration for my collection. I'm also looking to collect samples 1oz bullion coins from around the world. I would much rather have 1 of each coin than a box of silver eagles. It takes longer and costs more though.

Wow! That is one amazing collection! VERY nice and great photos too. Thanks for sharing. Just out of curiosity, how many total ounces of silver and gold are in this hoard?

@coincollect1: The moose will mozy on into my collection soon enough. I've left a spot for it in the red RCM display case. The 12-coin case will eventually house all 6 of the wildlife series silver maples, the 3 different finishes used on maples (BU, PF, reverse PF), and the 3 effigies of the queen used on the obverse of the SML. A pseudo type set if you will. @JSH: A lot more exciting than collecting just ASE or SMLs. Expensive, yes, but I will venture to say though that these coins will retain their value better than straight up bullion and rise with spot but not fall with it so hard. Given ofcourse, that I take the time to sell privately as oppose to giving it away to some dealer for melt. Regarding the owl, I paid around $150-180 for them about a year and a half ago. Had 3 and sold the other 2 for $200+ :) Like SilverBug mentioned, it's the wolverine (Gulo Gulo), the first of the series and winner of a bunch of design awards, that commands big dollars. But having seen both, I'm feel good for my bank account that I like the owl better. Here's a better picture of it: @mariospaghetti: I sold my 10oz maples for this kilo. Not as fancy as them dragon kilo coins from Perth but it's got a subtle class to it. Really shows off that mirror finish. @TheNickelGuy: The Kangaroo at sunset is definitely nice one too and also deserves a close up. The design really capitalizes on the light. (I've got a few of the 2011 version available if anyone's interested.) @SilverBug: nice catch on the tulip maple. To tell you the truth though, I'm not much of a fan of it. Just couldn't bring myself to get rid of it while knowing it's one of the rarest privy marked maples. edited to add more pics

Most recent acquisition is this one though: 2007 99999 pure Gold Maple Leaf - Test marked, mintage ~500 But, this was purchased on the behave of a friend in the States so I will only get to play with it for a few more days before I ship it off next week.... Come to think of it, not even a couple of days, since I already have it locked up! Ai~

poboxw: the tulip maple is the ONLY maple leaf that I don't have right now, so I got to have it no matter how ugly it is. it is THE rarest (not one of ), mintage 3,500

I may have sold you some of those coins, like the Angel of the Gods mystic coin perhaps, as well as few others possibly....

What a great collection - I love the owl. Thanks for sharing, I'm looking forward to seeing more individual pictures too. I only have a few coins - Austrian Philharmonic, Australian Kookaburra. I am looking to purchase more as funds allow.

I could not find one example of that owl piece on ebay, using the search "silver owl coin"? I like the raised detail, reminds me of that 1.8 oz. Andrew Jackson round from the New York mint early 70's if memory serves me right, did I not sell that to you as well Pobox?

Yes you did Hawk, that angel round and the 1.8oz-er are still in my collection :) You'll find the owl by searching for "ural owl" in the coins category. Seems like it's selling for anywhere between $220 - 390 as of late.

Owl is just amazing ... as of design - the best in your collection. Next week will make my way to the local coin store ... though it overcharges I might find something to make me feel happy

So, I added a 229 (buy it now $249.99) free shipping Ural owl to my list today, thanks to Pobox again with the correct title, and I was real intrigued at the fact that I found like 4 or 5 listed from 6 to 8 hundred, RE-dunk-u-lous, nice design an crystal eyes or not, lol..... So, like I said I was seriously considering tossin 250 at that bad boy, and before I could even ponder it, boom its sold, rof .... Like Mike says when you see something fantastic an rare that is valuable (an priced right compared to the others) "The time to buy it, is when you see it." Mike from Pickers, lol. I am guilty of another famous cliche...."When you SNOOZE, you lose." Still, I can get 6 solid oz., for what that coin would have cost me, and I am just not in the financial position to go after items that nice just yet, just like gold....

seems you guys prefer pretty coins than boring bullions, allow me to introduct you another unique coin: "un ultime franc". it's the last franc paris mint made before switching to euro, the design is very simple and stylish, it has curved surface which makes it unique, it won't cost you an arm or a leg. it will be a nice addition to any coin collection the image shown is gold version
