*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***So I got a box of dimes and I found nothing of value, no silver, just this one coin with four more rolls to search. This coin looks to be an error, is it? It looks a little off center to me? is it an error and if so what's the value? Irregardless I'm happy. one on the left is a normal dime Also this a a 1991 P dime, good condition Edited by Kingcoin 02/10/2012 10:35 pm

Yes, it is a little off center but a coin like that would not carry much of a premium (if any) unless part of the design is missing

Agreed ... that is an error coin ... known as a Mis-Aligned Die (MAD). These are fun roll finds ... but alas do not carry much (if any) premium unless significantly MAD ... which your coin is not based on the photos. Quote: one on the left is a normal dime
Assume you have the photo backwards? David

Haha, yeah sorry I meant one on right is a normal dime. Now if I sent this to NGC to get it graded would it come back marked as an error coin?

No, the rim is complete so it is not missing any letters or other devices. It's not worth sending to any grading company. If you like the way it looks, keep it..but its really just a 10 cent coin.

If both sides are off in the same direction, it's off center. If only one side, it's MAD.
Either way, no premium.

Is it off-center on both sides?

If you think errors are cool you might want to keep it, as its an error just not an error that anyone would want to buy for much.

Just one side and I'm defiantly gonna keep it.

It is such an incredibly common occurrence that I would not even consider a minor MAD to be an error unless some portion of the design was missing.

You're going to keep it and you're being defiant about it? Not sure what that means...
Anyhow, your coin is normal. The obverse die may have been very slightly misaligned, but this is exceedingly common on dimes.
Trying to slab this coin - especially as an error coin - would be a waste of time and money.
