Has anyone here seen or heard of a 2010 nickel with the monticello double stamped? I BELIEVE I found one roll searching awhile back and have not found info on the error yet. I cant post the pic now because I'm on a older moblie and its functions are limited.. I'll try to add a pic later.

Any info on this will be greatly appreciated

to the forum!

Without a picture it will be almost impossible to give you a quality assessment of the coin.

I can say that the word "Monticello" on Nickels are notorious for Machine Doubling and severe Die Deterioration.

It's apparently a kind of Die Deterioration. I have the mate to that nickel. It's a bit weird though, because I've found a coin identical to that, and many sharp 2010 nickels, but nothing in-between.

VLDS (Very Late Die State). The die is continued to be used even thought it is very worn.

No extra value, but but Die Deterioration manifesting this particular way is a bit unusual, so I hang on to the ones I've found.

Aye that's one mushy late strike. I also hang on to extreme examples simply out of curiosity. :-)

Outside of the 1980s, strikes like that don't tend to show up very often (especially so in more recent years).
