Need some help to be sure if this is the 1937-D 3 1/2 Leg Buffalo found in Popes book. For an Unc coin it does look Awefuly weak!

That is not the 3-1/2 leg variety IMHO.

On a true coin, the front right leg of the Buffalo has been polished away between the hoof and the body ... while on this coin those details are readily apparent.

Could very well be MS ... Buffalo nickels are famous for weak strike issues.

oh, I was under the impression that the 3-1/2 leg variety on the 37-D was the rear leg as seen in popes book.
Rest in Peace

That's a very nice coin but it is not the 3 1/2 legged one -- sorry. As nickelsearcher wrote -- it is the front leg that is missing. But you still have a very nice coin.

Is there a 1937-D 3 1/2 REAR LEG Buffalo? Two sold on ebay from the same seller and now he has has 2 more up. One is $2760 in MS65 and the other is $1560.

The seller is using a page from Ron Pope's book for the information.

If you look at the original listing for the first coin sold, you can see the page from Ron Pope's book that the seller is using.
