Don't wash them or try to wipe them clean. If the coins are valuable, PCGS has a coin conservation service. If they are not worth the expense of conservation, then you might find some tips by searching for that topic on this site.

, ke7gyo! First, distilled water, pat dry. Then, acetone. Zincolns you might as well kiss goodbye. For stuff like junk silver, you can always use a rock/bullet tumbler to get crud off. My sympathies. Been that, done there.

Welcome to CC!
First off....DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLEAN YOUR COINS OTHER THAN BY SOAKING IN WATER. You can make a bad situation even WORSE by attempting an improper cleaning.
Fire coins, in most cases, are ruined (I've been there too). If you have any valuable coins, i.e. worth more than $100, you should seek a professional service like NCS (Numismatic Conservation Services).

Sorry to hear about your losses. You can't clean burnt coins. It is permanent damage. Try your insurance company first to recover losses. If that doesn't work and if they are silver or gold, then try and get melt value for them. None of them are worth saving, if they are burnt that bad. I know I wouldn't want to save them, since they would be a bad reminder.

Can you describe what kind of coins those are? How many of each? More than likely all are ruined but if only normal, everyday coins, just take them to a bank as is. If they were from or for a coin collection, then try to explain what they are or were.

Was that your collection biggfredd? The recovery of those fire damaged coins is amazing!

Not really. The holders are scorched but not seriously damaged. Crack the coins out and they would have looked almost as good as they do in the final image.

I remember NCS posting those pictures in their monthly email where they were thought to be ruined beyond recovery but the slabs took most of the heat and even though they had to use a special solution to free the plastic from the coins most of the coins were saved, but even at the professional conservation level not all of the coins could be saved. If I remember correctly those coins were also in a safe and also aided in being able to conserve them
