I bought this Morgan today, I hope I didn't over pay. Opinions on condition / grade. Thanks in advance! Edited by FlipOfACoin 02/16/2012 03:09 am

If the cheek is as clean as it would appear in the photos MS-64 minimum and maybe even a 65. Nice coin, but there is a huge jump in price from 64 to 65 so the TPG's will really scrutinize it if you have it graded. Very nice coin though and would look great in my collection. I didn't even realize it was an 1880 s until superdave made his comment. I assumed it was an 1879 like the topic suggested. So scratch that comment I made about huge jump in price.

You really want to get this 1880 in front of us, don't you?

Based on the small sized photos I'd say MS65

OK, now I am confused? The pictures above are of the 1879-P. Where do you see the 1880-S?

OK, to solve this problem, I loaded the images to my own server and am hosting the images from there. Hopefully, everyone now sees an 1879-P obv/rev. Sorry

Nice clean fields, hardly a mark anywhere else on it. I'm going with MS-65.

It looks pretty even to me, with a few breaks in places. I will take another look and give you a better answer in a few moments, OK.

WOW, I did a little better grading on this coin than I did on the 1880-S. I had her at a conservative MS64.
Suggestions on where I should list this coin in my/our eCrater store? I do hesitate to say what I paid, someone may expect to get the coin for that amount... If any of YOU (you know who YOU are) want to know, I will send you a message through the CCF message center.

What do you mean where should you list it at? I have a sneaking suspicion you sold the coin last night, have you logged onto your ecrater store?

No, I have not logged into the eCrater store. Was this coin listed already?

Well that was not intentional. I thought it was saved as a draft listing, till a more solid price could be attained.
I will contact the buyer and see if they will cancel the order. If they are willing to negotiate, what value should I give the coin?
Mistakes happen... besides, the money is not for me. I hope they will understand that I am not going to 'throw away' $500.
