I had been watching this coin offered as buy now at $2,200 but they sold it for $900! I should have made an offer.

Very Nice looking coin. Guess it goes to show you never know. I am always afraid to offer too low a price for fear of insulting the seller. If he was asking 2200 I would never think he would accept under 1000. Shocking. I would have bought that in a heartbeat for $900.

Looks AU-55 or better for detail but luster seems absent. If surfaces are original the sale price seems like a bargain. If luster has been dipped away the seller may well be satisfied .

I'd be very interested in what happens if the new owner sends the coin to PCGS or NGC.

16S in AU 58 is 1400. However, I have a serious issue with that S. It REALLY looks punched to me. I would want serious gurantees. I would insist the seller send it to ANACS directly and if it comes back fake then refund. Or something to that effect.

That S jumped right out at me as soon as I looked at it. As beautiful as the coin is, there's no way I'd take the chance based on a picture. I'd need to see that puppy in hand first.

You have to be crazy, foolish or both to buy high-priced raw coins on ebay with a grade of "u-decide".
