Coindog Pillar of the Community United States 917 Posts	Posted 02/17/2012 12:17 pm Is this coin on ebay a genuine colonial? The reason I ask is I have a really hard time with the horse being so clear while the denticles on the same side have so much wear. Its just an odd combination of wear all around. vermontensium Moderator United States 16679 Posts	Posted 02/18/2012 04:53 am Looks to be a Maris 38-Y. It's the real deal. Overall, a very pleasing planchet! One flaw near the rim to note, and the usual strike weakness reverse, other than that, I agree on the grade of XF. I would pay around $350 for this coin, maybe slightly higher as it's a very original, uncleaned specimen. I am very hesatent to buy any colonials off ebay but every once in a while I come across one like this and I think about it. I have boughten a few from John K and have been pleased with the coins. Some sellers can tend to overprice them, especially on ebay, simply because they have no idea what a fair price would be.
