Type Set Commemorative Dollar Replacements

Have you looked at all the designs? I kinda like this one.

A couple of my favorites are the Mt Rushmore and Statue of Liberty commems. Also the 230th birthday of the USMC and the back of the San Fransisco Mint commem. Looks like a proof Morgan. Their are many nice commems I think, but that is just me.

I really like the 2008 Bald Eagle or the the 1994 U.S. POW

I just threw a Korean war dollar in mine just because I already had it, but I am really contemplating putting a bald eagle Dollar in its place. It would already be there if I hadn't in my mind set a cut off date of 2000 for the time a coin had to be minted to be placed in the album and I already went out of that box once with the NC State Quarter

This one is my favorite military themed commemorative dollar.

Just got my Ben Franklin founding father unc dollar in the mail. Beautiful coin, the reverse blew me away when I saw it in hand.

I think the smithsonian unc dollar is by far the most beautiful... I have my eyes open for one.

Please share your final choice!

In my Type set I put in the Korean War Commerative for three reasons:

1. Most importantly I had purchased the coin relative inexpensively because the person selling didn't have either the COA or the box.

2: I have an aversion of taking any coin out of their original packaging, but since I had neither a COA or a box my aversion had no merit in this case. I have no idea if the coin was either proof or uncirculated.

3: On a personal nature the coin even given the forgoing I do have a strong personal affinity for the subject matter.

I'm still looking for a Korean War Commerative that has both a COA and still in the original mint packaging

Wow, very nice collection and heck of a way to display them! NICE!

In short, I very much like coins that celebrate natural features of America rather than manmade things. For example, the Yellowstone is very cool, but the coin with Mt. Rushmore reminds me of the Native Americans we pushed out of the area and the arrogance of ruining a once beautiful rock formation. Not to mention all the tax money it takes to keep that thing in tact.

I'm also not excited by scenes of war, and the olympic coins are cool but... meh. I played football.

I think my choices boil down to the 1986 Liberty dollar (which I once owned and was a favorite when I was younger), the Yellowstone Dollar, or the Eagle dollar. I'm an Eagle Scout, but think the Boy Scout Dollar design is lame. Would have been much cooler to have Baden Powell on it. But I have to say I find the Canadian Maple much more appealing to the eye than anything American. It is simply just a great coin. I'm not really a fan of the geyser on the Yellowstone Dollar, and the buffalo just doesn't compare to the iconic buffalo of the Indian Nickel.

My type set is on hold as I contemplate on where to go with it. I may go towards slabs rather than the dansco, and havent looked into registry sets yet.
