i brought one last night from a site called buyincoins about $6 delivered and it weighs from .01 to 100 grams, they have bigger ones but I figured if its only to check 1 coin at a time why do I need big up to 500gram scales, and hopefully they might be slightly more accurate due to the lower weights and smaller range involved?

I brought a cheapie of ebay too, came from China for less than $10. Works a treat. Mine came with 2 x 50g weights for calibration. I use mine a lot with error coins (especially contempary copies & new age copies for notation on those coins 2x2's). I love the accuracy (as we all know there is always a potential -0.02g to +0.02g variation).

two main reasons why I want some are one to weigh coins and the other is to weigh the bags (at the bank in front of them) as when I got a bag of 50 cent and it was short 30 cent..yes true..it had a 20 in there and it was crapy (not happy Jan) but what can you do they would only call my a lier at the bank but I'm not tellin porkies..and a bag of 5 cents were up 20 cents so I was only down 10 in the long run but got some ok coins and decided to get $20 in $1 and got 3 chogams and a MOR so I've put them away for a bit

my advice is - you need a scale that goes upto 50g; 100g is better; and you don't need more than that. reading in increments of 0.1g is ok, if you're not going to use it for gold; but 0.01g is better. And, you need one where you can put a coin in a 2x2 on the weighing-platter. batteries: get one with AA or AAA. If you have one with button-batteries, or the coin-batteries, the cost of replacing them makes the scales a throw-away item. There are plenty on ebay that meet these criteria, for less than $20, including postage.
