Poll Question
If money didn't matter, would you rather have a single 100 oz silver bar OR have 100 oz of circulated but quality silver washington's and mercuries? I vote US coinage, but was wondering how many might rather have a massive 100 oz bar instead...and if so, why?

No brainer for me. One of my stated reasons for getting in to the whole thing is incase it's needed for future barter/monetary use. Not possible with that 100oz bar - well without breaking it into pieces but then the pieces wouldn't be readily identifialbe and useable like coinage.

Easy choice, as 100 ASE's is worth way more then a 100 oz. bar, via premium....

I would absolutely go with the coinage... dollars, halves, quarters, and dimes. These would be instantly recognized by everyone who has ever seen a silver coin as real silver and would make it easy to buy small but necessary items in a barter situation. Also, the premium on US 90% silver coins is minimal so you can get more silver for your money.

The fascination would wear off quick on the 100 ounce bar. I would rather look at 100 ounces of individual coins! ...and it would be easier to divvy up when the time was right. I'd like to have a problem like thatI'm not a wealthy man, don't pay for my suntan I work out in the heat and the cold Sometimes, I'd like to be the big, bad wolf Instead of just another sheep in the foldhttp://www.metrolyrics.com/id-like-...-diffie.html

I would never buy a 100oz bar. I would definately go with 10 - 10oz's, or 100 1 oz's. Easier to resell if the time arises. Personally. I never like putting that much money into one basket. The most expensive thing I have ever gotten (By a long shot!) was a graded gauden. And I dont plan on spending that much time in one sitting again... or at least a long time. The market for pure bullion bars, versus US coinage is different. Some people dont care, some people do. I would split it up and get both!

100 oz bars suck. Like someone said the coolness will wear off as soon as you shut the door of your safe. 100 ASE or Maple Leafs would be the way to go, or even 10 name brand 10 oz bars even.

I tell you what TBK I agree 100%, but man how cool would one of those sand blasted frosted First Majestic kilo bars be in 100 oz. form. I would not kick it to the curb, shall we say, rof .... I agree still, give me 100 DIFFERENT world coins, even if half of them were 90% commemorative or old numismatic stuff.....

People would rather have 90 ounces of silver than 100? ASE were not an option.

Depends on what I want to do with it, exit strategy if you will.
In SHTF scenario, even a hammer will be more useful than an 100oz bar I think. But, if I mean to profit from selling silver some time down the road, i'd rather the simplicity of one transaction versus the potential to have to break up the sales of 100oz of of coins into multiple sales.

I have never bought one piece of 90% in my life, but hey if they were real nice VF, high grade option Morgans or Peace dollars for example, why not? Get a little numismatic action going eh. Most here love that an why not as I find it more fascinating the more I learn about rare date coins with that extra special letter added on, via an S or a D, lol.... Which would bring more if you turned 50 oz. of quality rounds loose on ebay, and fifty more Morgan an Peace dollars, 25 each all close to UN-circulated like Provident lists them, or a 100 oz. J & M bar? Keep in mind no listing fees, and no zooms or features, so just 100% free to list and the fair shipping listed for each auction, so 100 actions verses one with the 100 oz. bar, which would yield more? I say the 100 coins would, but just my gut who knows in the end.... I know which one would be a HUGE pain in the backside to ship, esp if you drew 100 different winning bids, lol.... In the end, to each their own as always, as there is no right or wrong answers, everyone does what they think is the best move for them, and that is all that matters in the end....

I voted for the coinage. A 100 oz bar limits your sales options. I have been thinking about a 10 oz bar. Seems that I have an easier time selling that. I do have an 8 oz ASE and it is impressive to look at.

100 oz in US coins is better and more liquidable
