It seems as I browse through this site I see more and more people saying that they find Indian cents and Barber dimes in rolls of cents an dimes. I buy a lot of rolls from banks but I never get anything like that. My question is are there certain types of banks or places to go to get lucky and find a Indian cent in roll or is it just too bad that I do not get lucky?
You never know. You could get a $25 box of cents from a bank and find a bunch of wheat cents in it or none. You might find an Indian or two in it, or none. Its just like Coindog said; luck of the draw. Some folks go through LOTS of boxes before finding their first Indian cent or silver dime.
I am currently searching boxes of nickels. The last box I searched had ten or so no-date visible Buffalo nickels. I've searched TONS of boxes and my average was one buffalo every 4 boxes or so until that one box gave me ten. I also had a box last year that had two V nickels in the same roll; I've never found another V nickel since. Last night I had a roll of nickels that had two silver War Nickels in it; that has never happened before.
The point is this; You NEVER know what you will find and that is what makes coin roll hunting so much fun!
As to finding Indian cents you should try a place where there are still Indians. They may still be making some. Anyone that actually finds anything like that in change today is really, really lucky. So many people today are hunting change that almost anything old you do find is due to odd reasons. Such as someone dumping an old jar, can or box of coins laying around. Criminals too dump coins in banks when they steal them from people or homes.
The easiest way to find an Indian Head cent by searching rolls is to search half dollar rolls and find a 40% or 90% silver half, take it to a coin store and sell it and use the profit to buy IHCs.

Not a bad idea. I did the same thing (technically, it was a trade, not a sale) to finish off my Franklin half dollar album.
