How many quarters to a box? When you go through a box of quarters, how many pre 1967's would you likely find? From experiences of course. CHEERS!

$500 in a quarter box. They are $10 a roll at 50 rolls of 40 quarters. I have searched a few boxes of quarters over the past few years. I believe my best box was 2 silvers. In my area...quarters seem to be a tough search for silvers. If I remember correctly...I have found 8 Silver quarters out of 20 boxes searched with 13 of the boxes being skunks for silver.

Wow, so basically with your numbers tells me, that If I'm looking for silver quarters, I have to look through 20 boxes of quarters to get 1oz. I dont know if thats worth it.

It all depends on luck, amount of box hunters in the area. I do really well with quarters. So far in 2012 with $3500 in quarters (7 boxes) I found 18 silver quarters almost three per box. Also have found 8 so far this year in my change and 15 in my coin op washing machines and dryers
Last year I managed to get just over 2 rolls of pre 1966, 19 1967 quarters, and 32 silver 1968 quarters. From box searching and my coin op machines (25 washers, 25 dryers)

I agree with swrbxxx, there is a bit of luck involved. for example I started searching a few months back and I started with both quarters and dimes. After about 3-4 boxs worth of quarters I found nothing got skunked each time. I gave up and stuck with dimes as I was finding about 1-2 each box. Until the new quarters came out I wanted to try and find some so I got about $200 worth of quarters. (the bank didn't have a box they could give out.) and lo and behold I found 6 silver int the first 4 rolls.. O.o so they are out there you just need to look. If you don't search you will NEVER find any.

I was wondering if each time I went into the bank if I got say 5 rolls and then each time after that just giving my 5 rolls back in return for 5 more rolls. Say do this twice a week....what you all think?

Mark the rolls so you don't search the same ones. get lots and don't be afraid to bring them all back at once. Trading boxes for new boxes makes the tellers a little grumpy. They are heavy. good luck.

Its money, I just return them all at once. Sometimes they ask out of curiosity why so many but usually no questions asked. And be ready to have multiple banks involved (to put it into context I have 10 TD banks that I use in my area. 8 pickup banks and 2 dump banks.sometimes banks wont have enough for a box.). BUy or get your change form one or two(or more) banks and then return them to your "Dump" bank. Never get the change from your dump bank as the chances are you have searched that change already.
On a side note As Bmoney says dont be afraid of going all out and get your first $500 dollar box. Its money and you will loose NOTHING. take out $500 if you get skunked return $500 to your dump bank and your no worse off, other then time spent of course.
Tip: open a roll, do not rip it just open the end of the roll. check coins then put them back in the same roll and repeat. You will be surprised how fast it goes. And the coins are ready to go back to your dump bank.
enjoy

Right on, I like the idea of a dump bank. Been unemployed to the last few months so I dont have $500 kicking around to do that, but I think grabing 5 to 10 rolls to get going wouldn't hurt as much, especially since I'm not losing any cash out of the deal. Thank you for the tip skwca...I was wondering if I could do that or if I was going to have to re-roll which in the end costs me money. Thank-you everyone!

It is a good idea to take some free coin rollers from the bank also. They give them away at no charge.

Should I be asking them for circulated rolls or something so They dont give me rolls of brand new quarters? If I ask that will they refuse to hand me over 10 rolls because they know what I am doing rather than me telling them its for a poker game or something? I may be overthinking it but I want to stay in good repore with the tellers and I dont want piss any of them off or be an inconveinance.

The rolls the tellers have ready are circulated. Don't be afraid to ask questions here and at the bank. That's how you learn. All the people here are friendly. Bank tellers are alright. I did ask for a box of nickels and they were all in the last decade and were marked "coinage inc." so I started getting 20 rolls at a time that are at the counter customer wrapped bundled in elastics 10 rolls to a bundle.

You just need to ask. they will give them too you unless they don't have any. And all rolls will be circulated unless you get the brand new mint rolls

Thank-you everyone. I'm a bit nervous and excited. I'm going to start tomorrow. I think I'm goign to go to 3 banks tomorrow and grab a few rolls from each and feel the tellers out and then the one that sux the most is going to be my dump bank and the other 2 will be my pick up banks. Think I can only afford 6 rolls from each bank but thats ok...something is better than nothing and it gives me a chance to feel em out. CHEERS! Thank-you SOOOO much everyone for their knowledge and experiances! p.s. Get used to me and my bad english skillz hahahaha!
