Ok...So I just got my Dansco 7100 and I start filling holes and I get to the late 40's and...Where is 1947S?...and wait it skipoed from 1947D to 1949.. Drunk on the job? Is this variety of error album worth a premium? Guess I am gonna have to buy a new page Edited by Jayman931 02/27/2012 6:03 pm

Well, I believe that Dansco albums are hand made, so I suppose it is possible. You can get a replacement page from Wizard Coin Supply. Is the album brand new? If so, where did you get it? Maybe they can get the replacement page for you?

I wouldn't say drunk on the job. It could be like the place I work at, under staffed and over worked. This could happen anywhere. See if they will send you a new book or at least a new page for free. Keep this one for a conversation piece.

It looks like the 47 S and 49 S were switched !
Something like this happened to me years ago, I ordered a Whitman album from a big supply company, and two of the pages were labelled the same. I called the company and they replaced it but they had me mail the defective album back to them, I wish now I had kept it as a souvenir.

I'd keep it for the novelty factor. I'd even match the coins to the labels. Decades down the road, when somebody inherits your collection and goes to break it up, they'll have a huge "Whaaaa?" moment. I'd get a real kick out of that.

I thought an error album means you have to fill it with error coins.

I too would have just put the 47S and the 49S in the places where labled. One thing I would do is to place a sheet of paper in the front mentioning that. Usually such errors in Albums and books go unnoticed. However, sometimes error collectors would pay extra for such problems. And example is the missing page in one of the Whitman Red Books is now about 5 times the value to Red Book Collectors.

Just Carl- I haven't contacted Dansco in regards to this yet (I am assuming they will make it right). I bought the Dansco 7100 because of recommendations from this forum (it is a nice album...but unfortunatly its messed up) I am putting all MS cents in it and I shouldn't have to put a piece of paper on my otherwise beautiful Album and Cents explaining why what is where. I also like the neat look of the album and it "irks" me that those are swapped. Maybe its from my military days and everything should be "Dress Right Dress" but it is not acceptable.

IF they print and stamp these albums out, they should have more of these albums floating around, it is good that you contacted them right away. This way they can call the product back in to the factory and less will be released to the public. I would probably just keep the album if they wanted me to send it back, and just say you send me a new one, then have two for myself.

Myself, I'd leave as is just for the fun of it. Remember that this coin stuff is supposed to be a fun hobby. I know from what you say it bothers you now, but that is the type of thing I'd have fun showing other Numismatists. Type of thing I'd show them and say "Is this the way it's supposed to be?" I've heard there was a Red Book with an upside down page and would like to get that for the same reason as mine with the missing page. It's all for fun you know.
