"Woody" Cents

Quick question on these woody cents people speak of:

What happens to them to make them woody? Is this just a special kind of tarnish?

It is attributed to improper alloy mixture in the metal stock used to make the blanks, typically the streaks are a brassy yellow(higher zinc content).

That would be pretty dang cool to have a complete set of woodies. I gotta dig mine up, I have several that I think would photograph really well.
