DVCollector Bedrock of the Community United States 10045 Posts	Posted 03/02/2012 6:38 pm 1870 was a year plagued with minting problems including poorly-mixed planchets, bad die steel and hardness issues, poor strikes, and many broken dies. The soft details of your coin may be explained by strike or poor dies. Certain amount of guesswork here, but I would say AU50 details. Report this Post to the Staff
