Could use a grade on this 1870 Indian Head cent. The color and planchet are nice, but it has a weak struck area about 2 o'clock on the obverse and corresponding reverse.

1870 was a year plagued with minting problems including poorly-mixed planchets, bad die steel and hardness issues, poor strikes, and many broken dies. The soft details of your coin may be explained by strike or poor dies. Certain amount of guesswork here, but I would say AU50 details.

Beautiful 1870! I'd give it a solid XF45.This year is hard to find in decent shape.

We are definitely looking at strike issues here but, I would also say XF45ish.

XF/AU. Would need to see how the luster/surfaces look to come up to AU but its possible in my mind.

I think it easily makes XF45 and could possibly make AU50.

Finding high-grade and problem-free examples of 69, 70, 71, and 72 is a tall order!

I'd say EF-45, taking the weak strike into consideration.

it is my experience that TPG's LOVE to 1870 IHC's back in body bags or corroded (ANACS).
