This is a coin from ocnumis. They note that there is evidence of a past cleaning, but I'm wondering what type? A wipe, a dip, a whizz? Just trying to educate myself on the tell-tale signs.

I maybe see some hairlines on the front and back. Also, the color is off a bit.

Thanks to all.

This one's been hit hard. It has the classic parallel scratches of a brushing running from southwest-northeast on both faces, and I strongly suspect the color may be the result of some chemical involvement in that brushing - it's too bright. That said, if they brushed it hard enough, the color could follow that way also.

Much credit to the seller for providing accurate images and description. They've got some nice stuff.

I'm no expert but looks like a dip and whiz to me. What a shame.

Indeed, SuperDave. I find ocnumis' descriptions to be dead-on.

Whatever process used, it has pushed around/removed a significant amount of metal. That dig in the field near Liberty has beveled edges, and I suspect the "cartwheel" is due to a heavy whizzing, worse on the reverse. EF details, but if I were to buy this, I might pay an F15 price.

I've seen clashes similar to what appears in front of Liberty's face. Unfortunately, that is not a clash.

Maybe sand blasted or a sand casting. If it's real someone destroyed it.

Sand blasted is right, could even be an electrostatic counterfeit, I'd stay away from this one. Either way it's almost too much bad to outweigh any good on it.
