I know that a fair amount of ebay listings are put up with poor pics or only the obverse pic. But you'd think that someone asking 4-figs for a coin would be willing to show both sides. I requested a reverse look at an MS63 PCGS gold coin and the reply I got was that a reverse pic was unneeded because the coin is certified and thus only an obverse look is necessary? (Copping an attitude like I should "know that") WTH kind of response is that? You want 4 figs on "trust" that the reverse is good JUST because it is in a "trusted TPG" slab? Some folks are just NUTS! Sorry to vent but I am also sick of the BIN listings at 150% to 300% of RETAIL LIST PRICE. I guess some folks will pay such markups but it sure is a waste of my time to have to wade through them to find any legit reasonable offers. Wastes most people's time I'd think! Heh, not only is a reverse photo MANDATORY for anyone buying coins but his listing is also in violation of ebay policy for certified coins. Quote: In addition, listings for certified coins must include an image of the item, showing the coin in its graded holder. The image needs to be clear and the grading company, grade, and certification number should easily be readable.
Note: Coins minted before 1980 must show the full front and back of the holder. Coins minted in 1980 or after must show the full front of the holder.

Funny, most collectors don't buy the slab. Lazy seller--I take better pics when selling a $10 coin.

IMO if someone is taking just one picture, or grainy blurry pictures 95% of the time they are trying to pull a fast one and these people should be avoided and considered scam artists.

It is the second one in tights24's post - good catch tights! I was only slightly interested in it - a bit high even for a starting bid for my tastes - but to be told I didn't "need to see a reverse on a certified coin" just struck me as very odd and bizarro! Exactly chris, that is why it makes it doubly suspicious if they refuse to provide a reverse photo even when asked. I have asked for "better" pics before and honest sellers have obliged. When they refuse it is a HUGE RED FLAG on top of the yellow flag of not providing one to begin with. Interesting biokemist6, that part about "image must be clear" is violated A LOT for certified coin pics. ;)

Yeah I learned how to embed huge photos with HTML in my ebay listing just so I could give nice clear accurate pics on my coins and spoons. ebay is a good place to buy and sell. Just if you buy make sure the seller can be trusted.

Looks like none of his certifed coins have reverse photos, they are up again. Coins look legit, his shipping is some of the highest I've seen too. Photos are all pretty bad, blurry one sided bad lighting, he sure doesn't represent his coins to be in the best way that's for sure.

Quote: they are up again Not for long. I just used scubu's link and listed all of his auctions that are pre 1980. Hopefully I'll have the same success.

Quote: Looks like none of his certifed coins have reverse photos, they are up again. No, the coins I reported are still gone. I only recently reported the rest when he got nasty with me for requesting a reverse image.

Quote:Thanks for reporting these listings to us. I reviewed these listings and confirmed that they violated our Selling Currency policy. As a result, I removed the listings. The seller was told the correct way to list these types of coins when we ended them previously. The listings you reported today all started prior to when the seller received the first warning. He has not listed anything new on the site since then. Again, thank you for your report. We appreciate your help in keeping ebay a safe and reputable forum to conduct business.

Quote: I got an arrogant email from him after asking for a reverse image As did I, as I mentioned in the OP he acted like I should KNOW that a reverse pic is completely un-needed on certified coins. I didn't know it was actually required by ebay rules - thanks for reporting them scubu! Arrogant and poor sellers like that should be taught their lessons!
