My grandmother has an enormous coin collection. She has amassed this collection over most of her life. Amongst that collection was 11 Krugerrands. She informed me the other day they are missing. Based on some circumstances she knows who probably took them...a member of our own family. She is the sweetest lady. To think this piece-of-trash stole from her just makes me sick. Unfortunately, she didn't realize they had been stolen until now...several years after the fact...now when she needs them the most. On a positive note, she says it looks like the rest of her collection is untouched since she didn't keep everything all in one place.

They need to bring back the death penalty for stuff like this. I'm not joking.

Mitchhailey has the right idea. My property, regardless of value, is MY property, no one else's.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Lowlife, pieces of trash like this should be taken out of our society, permanently. I wish I can have 5 minutes in a room with this person, or any thief for that matter.

I am very sorry. Sadly, things like that happen all too often. Perhaps you could help her move the rest to a more secure location.
And we have 4 votes for death to the person "who PROBABLY took them?" Really people?

I'd like to lock that guy up in a room with Wayne Rooney from Manchester United. (the emoticon actually looks like Wayne Rooney) I feel sorry for your poor grandmother.

So sorry to hear about that.
Since they are a family member, is she able to face them again?
I know if a family member did that to me, I would never speak or look at them again. Stealing from your own family is really bad.

Stories like this are exceptionally horrific. Older people have it difficult to watch everyone, all the time and usually trust family more than they should. Not far from me an elderly man had a Gold coin collection and a safe in his house for them. One day he opened his safe and all were gone. Later it was found his own Grandson stole them for drug money. In many instances younger kids rob their parents coin collections for change to buy candy, gum, toys, etc. Situations like this are more common that most realize. One of the worst parts of such situations is when the culprit is found, since a family member, little is done. Few are ever reported to the law. Few ever have to repay. Usually just lots of yelling, scolding, etc. and usually the cuprits know that so it could well happen again.

Terrible, especially being betrayed by her own kin.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
This person is a cousin of mine. My grandmother is also his grandmother. I just can't fathom stealing from my own grandma...that is lower than worm poo.

Your cousin needs help. No person in their right mind commits such an act of...well...however you want to describe it.
