Hi I just started getting into canadian large cents. I recently bought a few on ebay, using my limited experience at grading to find what I think (or hope) are pretty good deals. I got 2 CCCS graded coins (1884 obv.2 vf-20 and 1899 vf-30) for under 4$ each, that I used to grade the other 8 un-graded ones I got. I'll put what I think the grade is under the pic. Would like to know if I'm at least close to being right . Also need help with some varieties. Thanks!

Hate to spoil the party, but here is my opinion...makes no sense to fool yourself.

Thanks for the input. I dunno why, but the scans aren't really showing the details as sharp as they should be. I used 2 graded coins in hand as a reference, the '92 and '96 have much more details than my graded '99 VF-30. That's why I gave EF-40. Anyhow, still got a pretty good deal, even with the lower grade evaluation. Anyone else wanna chime in on this? You know what they say about opinions...everybody has one

The 1891 is obverse 2. Here is a website that can help with obverse identification.

1891 looks like it was hit with a hammer and flattened the rim .
1892 EF-40
1893 VF-30
1895 VF-30
1896 VF- (caught between 20-30)
1896 VG-8 at best
You must remember that it is very hard to give a precise grade from internet photos

Thanks for the link bosox. Nice clear pics and explanations. Thank you for your opinion Terry-T. I guess I got a pretty darn good deal, paying about 25% of the value for these coins. Pays to wait for the right ebay listings.
