The website hasn't been updated since 2008, are they still in business? For instance their testimonial link: http://www.americancoinclub.org is a dead site. Looks like a fancypants backroom slabber. One thing I took from this: Ain't no way that PCGS chain cent is a VF20.

I believe it's a spin-off of the Hollywood coin club of the '80s. A bunch of blowhards if you ask me.

The diagnostics of that Chain Cent are all wrong. I figured a basement slabber like SGS and all the others. In almost 30 years, never heard of them...lol!

To me it is obviously fake for one reason... If you had a coin that valuable, why would you not have one of the big 3 TPG's grade it? That is always suspicious to me. These days anyone can make their own grading service and slab fake coins. They know they could get a lot more money selling if it was in a PCGS slab, but why don't they send it in? Because they know it's fake.

An easy way to put their argument to the test--put their coin up for auction alongside a PCGS.

Looks like they're trying to get ppl to confuse them with Accugrade (ACG), but I can't imagine why.

Been around about ten years, it's a grading service created by the Beverly Hills coin club, or more specifically some of their dealer members. hey do not have a significant market presence. And neither one of those chain cents is a VF. The PCGS is maybe a G-6, the ACCGS is a VG-F with corroded surfaces.

The PCGS example looks like it might have been digitally blurred in order to obscure detail to make the coin appear a couple grades lower than it should. It would not surprise me that they did that to make their "test" appear to be more legitimate than it really was Edit: Bingo, I found the coin in question listed in a 2003 Heritage auction and of course, it looks nothing at all like the pictures shown on the ACCGS site I am now completely convinced that they manipulated the photo of the PCGS coin to their perceived advantage. http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...8&lotNo=5153

I saw that too Bob. They must have used photoshop on the PCGS coin.

I looked for that coin on Heritage, and my suspicions are confirmed.

OK, much better. With the Heritage pictures I would give the PCGS at least a F-15 grade. Much nicer than the ACCGS VF-20.
