Well last week I picked up "2" type 2 silver dollar planchet's that are UNC's. A 1889 O that may have a new G clash that's a wait and see coin that's an Unc as well. I also picked an 1891 O Vam-3a2 in Unc or full luster AU-58 I have it as an MS-61 time will tell on that one as well. Lets see a group of 1878 coins that I have no Idea of what they hold other then they are unc's 8 tf, 7/8 tf, 7 tf, cc, and s mint coins. A very late die state of an 1900 O Vam-2a that I may send to Leroy. 1878 S Vam-6 RIB my 7th I just like that VAM ? And lastly but this was closer to 2 weeks ago a 1889 O Vam-20a and Vam-20b E clash's. So all in all not a bad week or so.

While I have some VAM's in my somewhat large collection, my main interest is in Error Strikes (coins) & Prints (currency) and not varieties due to poor vision that requires a microscope to find them... The primary reason for this reply on the message board is that my late brother-in-law had a coin collection... My sister had just been released from a five month hospital stay last november when that night her husband died in his sleep... Long story short, my sister was/is in serious financial shape and needed some cash to prevent forclosure on her home... I requested that she bring whatever coins she could locate and let me look over them prior to her selling them under silver melt value... In the end I could only loan her 5k (half of what she needed) and prior to loaning the money, I picked out 63 Morgan dollars to hold and mentioned to her that I wanted to research what coins should be sent to ANACS for certification and see if any of them are VAMS worth a premium if certified, as bullion buyers will not pay her any type of numismatic value other then spot price... She agreed and I posted the 63 Morgans on a seperate photobucket account for further input on what the experts would have certified, and opened a seperate gmail email account with 16 Morgans that may be VAMs (each coin in a seperate email message) with high resolution photos of an estimated 3mb per photo... I am looking for someone that knows VAMs and is willing to help me out... For the person/persons willing to do so, I will give them full access of the gmail account (sign in & password) so they could download and inspect the photos and advise... last week I sent a email via this forum to superdave and have not received any reply... I copied some of the message of the 1878 8-Tail Feather below; I know it must be a VAM, just not sure what type... For those that know VAM types, and think they can help me out with this, please email me at my primary email. vernonpeterson@gmail.com ~ Thank You... - - - - - - - - - - - - - (Obverse Side) Doubled "LIBERTY" A notch in the digit "7" Doubled & Tripled Stars on both the right & left sides (Reverse Side) Doubled leaves Tripled Dot/berry (or whatever it is) on the right side I know that this must be a VAM of some sort, just not sure what type, and any help would be greatly appreciated...

I immediately spotted this as a certain VAM when I saw it listed on ebay. Got her under market price, and I think has a decent shot at MS-65 possibly. Shes a beaut. SuperDave pointed me in the right direction, being a VAM 3A. Got some very nice spiked lips and chin!

Yes, I'm a member over at VAMWorld although I dont post in the discussion area, I do a lot of reading. I love hawking ebay, you can cherry pick a lot, but its risky. A lot of VAM varities I do see for cheap are harshly cleaned or polished to death.

Ya , Thats one thing I hate .. Really has to be a clear PHOTO .. otherwise I just dont risk it .. Mostly all of my ebay buys have been PCGS graded coins .. a few anacs .. but not many raw , I think I bought 2 .. I know one for sure lol *being that 1882-o/s* ... But once I gota few extra mins ill pop on the bay and see what's around *Unclaimed by any of my fellow vammers * ... Good luck on your Hunts Brother , Cant wait to see all of your next finds/scores ... \m/ phil \m/

I don't think I will ever be able to top the Discovery of the VAM-85 but I always look every day on ebay for B1 reverse Morgans. I would at least like to get one VAM-86 so I could have at least one of my B1 Reverse sets be totally complete

if you have a dealer that can point you towards a VAM-85 or a VAM-86 you wouldn't want to know the price they would be asking for one of them. I do not know if you are familiar with the VAM-85 and VAM-86 but this is the thread I started before ever sending the coin into Leroy Van Allen and getting the Number VAM-85 (be sure you have awhile to read allot of posts) https://goccf.com/t/73683 . The VAM-86 was found when everyone was searching their VAM-80's looking for another VAM-85. The VAM-85 was the first B1 Reverse to be found in 45 years and the VAM-86 was discovered about a month later

Haha , Nope I Honestly was not aware... till I went and tried to research it after my reply haha... ( But I just knew he (being my local dealers..would have told me if it was possible to find or not lol) But now knowing even more from what you have here ill leave that one alone. ] .. Going to go do some more reading .. (always looking for anything to learn with these) .. And I Really have only been working with morgans and The VAM Stuff since mid feb or so .. (collected them for a few years , but mainly just if I found one I knew was scarce but didnt know alot or research much about them .. Till now haha) .. .. so I'm Basicly diving right in .. And REALLY tring to soak up everything I can...Just Gotta take my time and ask questions .. stupid or whatever I really dont mind how it looks haha .. If I have doubts or something just dosnt seem right I'm gonna ask , however easy the reply lol I just would rather know it is then to keep having doubts lol .. But being about a month deep I have *SUMWAT* of a grasp .. (i think) .. But I'm always interested in any info anyone has to share . however basic it maybe , I may not be aware of it yet .. I appreciate everyones time ALOT tho .. Hear and on VW .. Gotta suck have the same questions asked time and time again .. Thanks again , \m/ phil \m/
