I am browsing through both the RAM website and the RCM website, looking at the Silver Proof Set, Proof Set, Mint Set for this year and I notice that the RCM does set a mintage limit on their set, on the other hand, the RAM (like US Mint) doesn't have a mintage limit (which I guess is like US - make to order and one would not know the mintage until after the selling concluded).

My reason is I am looking at possibly getting one of each set, from one of each mint of all the English speaking countries for the year 2012 for my baby girl that will arrive w/in 4 months. That will be a huge chunk of money though, so far: about $350 for RCM 3 sets, about $450 for RAM 3 sets, about $140 for US 3 sets

I haven't count UK and NZ mint yet.... I imagine it will come close to 1000USD.

I am also pondering at the thought of just getting silver bullion rounds (with dragon design) for her from APMEX instead of those set. This approach is more of wealth preservation vs. enjoyment/collecting.

Any comments/suggestions are welcome.

There is also a 2012 baby set that has the unpainted/not gold plated 50 cents.
I have a feeling that the 2012 issue will be mainly mint sets only

The blinky bill baby mint set would be a nice thing to get her from RAM.

Lol.... I saw that too.
There're two Baby set Proof (delay until April) & Uncirculate, which would cost another $155 or so just to get two non colored coin. I don't know man, I guess I will have to re-think about this and be more focus on just some specific type set I guess.

If I were you I would simply get a proof set from each country. They look shiny and I think they would especially appeal to your young one.

If it were me, and I had no interest in numismatics, I'd go for silver bullion coins.

I'm having a baby boy in June & my plan is to buy the 2012 Australian Baby Proof set (Dot & the Kangeroo) when it finally gets released.

I guess it's all personal preference. That's my opinion. Good luck with it all.
