Memo to BEP: Maybe we could do away with anti-counterfeiting devices and just start re-issuing NBNs with hand signatures - bet that would slow down the fakes.

I love that Brown Back @CollectorKing, and thanks @techwriter for sharing the Newman pedigree $5 LT . Just back from grading, I have a serial #12 on the 12th District , six 12's on the face of this note.

Wow, that's fantastic. Tell us if you will about the general value of something like this.

Quote: Tell us if you will about the general value of something like this Typical modern uncirculated non-star serial #12 $1 FRN's sell from $150 to $200. Star notes are double that along with Silver Certificates. Higher denominations also sell for more. This $100 serial #12 Star note was $600 back in 2010.

Maybe if the larger denominations ever make a comeback, that would be a good idea. Require large-denomination notes to be signed by hand and issue the signers some kind of special pen (that never leaves the BEP) with special ink that iridesces a special way. Maybe said special ink would have a certain half-life that makes the notes obsolete after said half-life. Whatever.
