Looking for opinions as to what's happening with the right shoulder and date? The date is fairly clear and does not appear to have any hits, the object between the 9 & 5 and 5 & 5 appears to be metal, not a foreign debris.

Appreciate it..

Is that area raised on his shoulder on this poormans doubled die? It looks like a defective die, like an interior Cud possibly as I see a die crack leading away from it heading northwest. The reverse has a funny looking triangular area that I think is just opposite of the area that is most significant on the obverse. The area between the 9 and 5 looks to be a die chip. I think this is a very late die state coin.

Nickel guy is right on. That die was on its last legs when it struck your cent there. That right shoulder flake looks to be a lamination, you could probably peel up that piece. And the date is a die chip.

I doesn't look like a lamination to me. It looks like a die crack imo, and a strange one at that. But maybe its just the pictures. Either way, it is a really late die state and it surely shows.

Thanks Nickel, Kook and Error!

Yes it is raised ever so slightly, and I had not spotted the northwest crack but its there, also a small one going northeast.

Good eyes, using a wheat overlay and looking at the reverse more closely, there is a V pointing east which matches exactly Lincoln's back of head down his shoulder.

Thanks alot!

VLDS coin from a dead die. Several die cracks on the bust. Die chips on the date and just overall worn out die. Not a pretty sight!

It may not be a pretty sight perhaps, but is it not still a keeper?
I would think it is, at least for southsav.
It needs a little love that's all.
