Do you think they looked at it with the naked eye or even bothered to use a 5X at the very least? hmmmmm

Deb, Most marks you can see without any magnification. Can't begin to tell you how angry I am right now. I guess they think most people are to dumb to know what their getting.Or maybe they just don't care what the collector thinks.

I don't blame you one bit for being angry "T"! I would be too! Is there a way to reach Mr. Taylor about this? This isn't a good way for him to start out with ICG and try to built a good/better reputation with and for them! Let us know what you do and what you can find out. I would definitely complain to them!

Could you elaborate on that? I wasn't aware that ICG sold coins. Are you saying that that ICG has claimed that coins have become damaged while inside their sealed holders, and they're disavowing those coins? If that's true, it's even much more alarming than the MS70 grade on this ASE! TLS5933, I just bought a PCGS MS69 2007 ASE, and I'm pretty disappointed with it, too. I think I bought too soon. I'm not going to try to replace it now, though. I'll probably wait for a year or so until the dust has settled, so to speak, and then go pick out a good one to my liking. I'll look for an MS69 that is mark-free and hasn't developed spots. I'll bet yours was quite a bit more expensive, so you'll want to address the situation sooner. Mine was about $30, and had comparable distractions to yours. Good luck!

I guess you are sure the marks are on the coin and not in or on the holder? It sure looks like they are on the coin. I doubt ICG will say it happened after encapsulation, I sure wouldn't buy that. MS70's are really only impressive to the market in PCGS holders and to a lesser extent in NGC holders and not impressive at all to me. Modern MS70 coins IMHO over extremely overrated. Good luck with ICG.

TLS: Before you yell too loud, did you look at the s in the word "silver"? It could just be the reflection, but it may be a double die. Try looking with a loupe.

TreasHunt, Believe me I looked this coin over VERY carfully before saying anything.I used a 10x & 15x loupe. mrcoin,Its scratched and it on the coin not the holder although the holder does have small red spots embedded all over in it.Its not a double die, what your seeing on the word "Silver" is just a reflection of light.I wish it were a double die.

Come on guys, give them a little slack! Try and remember that 'perfect' isn't what it used to be.

About 18 months ago, I submitted information to ICG, including a credit card number, to join their Collector's Club. I never heard from them again. That was the sum total of my experience with ICG, and likely the only experience I ever have with them, James Taylor or not.
For the record, the CC number was a one-timer, generated for the specific purchase. That's why I'm not worried about it.
